Round Robin Sports 13th June 2006 |
|

The Round Robin was heralded by a beautiful afternoon - not too hot, a little breeze and large clouds looming by the end of it. Twelve activity stops were the order of the day. The children were divided into groups of ten of mixed ability and had to partake in the following tasks:
Skipping - 30 forward & 30 backwards, then counting with two turning the rope.
Long jump - practice take off & landing prior to the real sandpit thing.
Tennis - in twos rallying.
Football skills - dribbling round bollards, through hoops & goal shooting.
Plastic javelin - technique & grip explained first (to prevent skewered children).
Relay races - skipping & backwards running (possibly faster than forwards!).
Hockey - free for all, only rules = 'two hands on the stick'.
Target practice - aiming beanbags on the wall & into different sized hoops.
Beam balancing - with beanbags & rings on heads, forwards & backwards.
Basketball - no explanation needed just 10 pupils, 4 balls, 2 nets and several attempts.
Water stop & free play on the adventure playground.
Orange juice stop and rest!
It was really quite exhausting watching these budding athletes attempt these sports in the allocated 5-6 mins which took about one and half hours to complete allowing for change over time. They all looked to be having a good time when the event was in progress and certainly looked pink at the end of it!

Yes, after an engagement that has lasted for almost fifteen years now, we were married on Saturday 21st July 2007 at St Johns Church in Cononley. We had a fantastic day! If you would like to watch a short slideshow (best with ADSL - it will take a short while to load - just wait..) then please click here. You can also find photos of our big day (and the honeymoon) in our galleries. Martin and Sue xxxx |
